Dr. David L. Manzo graduated with honors from the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and the Arts in 1980. He then continued to finish in the top 25 percent of his medical school class at the University of Michigan in 1984. He completed four years of post graduate training, including one year of general medicine followed by three years of residency training in ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, setting the stage for his successful career at Manzo Eye Care.
Dr. Manzo is a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Ophthalmology as well as a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Manzo is a member of The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, The Michigan Ophthalmological Society, The Michigan State Medical Society and The Oakland County Medical Society. He has also been honored by The American Medical Association and given the Physician’s Recognition Award in Continuing Medical Education.
Finally, Dr. Manzo is a supporting member of The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Easter Seals Society, The American Lung Association, The National Foundation for Cancer Research, MADD-Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Special Olympics, the Disabled Veterans Club, Doctors without Borders and Physicians for Human Rights. Additionally, he is a member of the Founders Society of the Detroit Institute of Arts, The Dante Alighieri Society, The Detroit Zoological Society and The National Arbor Day Foundation. Dr. Manzo’s interests and hobbies are health, athletics, photography, music appreciation and performance. Family is paramount.
Dr. George hails from the sunshine state of Florida and received her Bachelors in Biomedical Science from the University of South Florida. She then went on to graduate from the well-known Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL with her Doctorate in Optometry. She has been recognized for her outstanding clinical work, achieving honors in both her primary care rotations as well as her medical/surgical externship. After graduating, Dr. George practiced in Tampa, FL for a number of years, refining her clinical skills, before moving to Michigan to be closer to family.
She enjoys seeing patients of all ages and strives to give the best care. Dr. George has experience in the management of diabetes, glaucoma and cataracts, as well as treating dry eye and fitting contact lenses. She loves staying up to date on the newest advances with contact lenses, dry eye treatments, and spectacle lens option as well.
Dr. George is an active member of both the American Optometric Association as well as the Michigan Optometric Association. In her free time, she enjoys indulging in the emerging Detroit food scene, spending time with her family in Michigan and Florida, and travelling the world. She also loves taking an active part in her community whenever she can.
